“Cooling” Gel Infused Foam
While Gel Infused Foam does offer durability and support, it does not actually help keep you cool at night. The ‘cool-to-the-touch’ sensation of this material tricks many customers that are prone to sleeping hot. The issue with all memory foam products is the lack of air flow. When your body heat warms the gel, there is no heat dissipation – this quickly offsets the cooling effect of the gel making you wake up during the middle of the night warm.
So, are there any components that might help you sleep cooler at night? Here are a few to consider..
Pocketed coil is a bedding material that many people think is used exclusively in the support layer of the mattress – not true. There are certain types of pocketed coil that can be used in the comfort layer as well. Pocketed coils can help provide a cooler sleep due to the construction of the individually wrapped coils and the allowed air flow. Your body heat can flow through the mattress creating a cooler sleep surface.
Latex is very similar to memory foam, offering the plush and cushy feeling that you get from a foam-based mattress. The difference is, Latex is tempered differently which allows for little ‘holes’ providing more room for air flow. Not only do we offer classic latex products, we offer a variety of specialty latex that offer special benefits. One of these is Graphite Talalay Latex which is infused with the mineral graphite that wicks away heat.
Serene Foam is a memory foam product that is made with an ‘Open Cell’ technology allowing more air flow than your typical memory foam. While this still does retain body heat, it is made with phase-changing materials to help regulate temperatures as you sleep. This is exclusively found in our showrooms in the Greater Houston area.
