Why We Are Not Offering a Memorial Day Mattress Sale

In honor of our 8th annual Memorial Day Matters campaign, all Texas Mattress Makers and Living Designs Furniture showrooms will be closed on Monday, May 26th. Our founder and president, Youval Meicler, does not believe that the message and reverence of Memorial Day should be used to sell mattresses. As a veteran-owned business, here is why we believe Memorial Day matters.

Regaining the Significance of Memorial Day

In America, Memorial Day has almost become “Mattress Day.” Every mattress retailer has seen record sales throughout Memorial Day weekend as families take advantage of their day off by looking for the best Memorial Day mattress deals. However, Memorial Day is not about making purchases — it is a day to pause, reflect, and show respect to our military families. 

Where other mattress companies take advantage of this day to make a profit, we close our showroom doors out of respect for the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our country, our freedoms, our family, and our friends.

Why Memorial Day Matters

We believe America is the great country that it is because we have the freedoms to make the decisions that are best for our families, run businesses, and practice whatever religion we choose. However, the freedoms we are so blessed to have today are paid for by the people who have fought to uphold them.

Because Youval Meicler served in the Israeli Army, he truly understands the heartache and the importance of this solemn holiday. Youval has lost many of his close friends in the service. He has lived the reasons why we must stop and reflect on the sacrifices of the ones we’ve lost each and every Memorial Day.

This is why we encourage everyone to treat this day as a day of remembrance. Instead of spending your time and money at a Memorial Day mattress sale, you could donate your time or efforts to a non-profit organization that supports the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

Why We Offer a “May Sale” instead of a Memorial Day Mattress Sale

Although we will not be offering a Memorial Day mattress sale, we will be offering a sale all month long so our customers can still enjoy the best mattress deals in Houston whether through in-person or online mattress shopping. 

You don’t have to sacrifice savings. This sale will be available throughout the month of May, except for Monday, May 26th, when each of our Texas Mattress Makers showroom locations and our Living Designs Furniture showroom will be closed in honor of the men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms. However, you can visit any of our Houston-area showrooms for amazing deals year-round.
